Child Labor Should Be Stopped!

Back in the the day, children were treated with no respect. They had to work long hours with such little pay. Children would work about sixty hours a day. Factory owners would hire seven or eight-year-olds unsafe jobs. After work the children would be all cut up and fingers would be cut off as well. Children were never able to get a good education or help their families around the house because they would be at work all day.

In 1903, children went on strike because they wanted a shorter work week but the mill owners would not let them. So the children went on strike and Mother Jones came to help them.  When Mother Jones came to Pennslyvania  she helped 16,000 children. She organized the Children's Crusade, which was a march from Philadelphia to New York. Mother Jones wanted to show the world how children were treated and how their working conditions were. The children and Mother Jones wanted to see the President Roosevelt but he didn't want to see them.  Even though the children had to go back to working sixty hours a week Mother Jones really helped them.  She helped the children so their would be no more child labor. Mother Jones made a difference in the children's life!
