Blacks and Equal Rights

How would you feel if you went to war for freedom and after the war you were still not treated equally because of your skin color? well after the Civil War in the year of 1865 African Americans were still not being treated equally, only because of the color of their  skin color. African Americans decided to fight for there rights which lead to the Civil Rights movement. This movement was sucessful because now African Americans are not judged on the color of their skin. They can now go to the same school as whites and they are able to eat at the same restaurant .

Some injustices the African Americans went through were political and social. one of the political injustices that African Americans went through was voting. African Americans were not allowed to vote. If they tried they would have to take a literacy test which they would have failed because they were not allowed to go to school to learn or they would just have gotten whipped. Another injustice was social. One social injustice that Africans Americans had to go through was that they were not allowed to eat at most restaurants. That caused African Americans to have sit-ins where they stayed in the restaurant knowing that they were not allowed to. Most of them got whipped or a bad punishment took place. Also I saw a picture that showed inequality where their where two men 1 white and 1 black drinking out of different water fountains a d 1 said whites only and the other 1 said colored only

African Americans used non-violence as a method of resistance. Instead of using violence they marched .they had boycotts they also had sit-ins. Some of the African Americans who participated in the method of resistance where Ruby Bridges, Martin Luther King Jr. ,Rosa Parks and many more. The result of them using this method we are able to go to the same school as whites. We are able to ride on the bus and many other things that we do today is because African Americans that made a difference.

Some of the acivements and laws that we achieved was brown vs. board where Ruby bridges father fought all the way to the sumpreme court.
