Have you ever had to work in a factory at the age of 14 years old? However from the years of 1870’s thought 1938 witch I think does not give children the proper time they need to be a kid had to deal with this. Many factory owners try to find ways around the law by forcing children’s working papers. Children work in dangerous situations at their jobs such as cold mines under very unhealthy conditions. However Jacob Radii’s wants the government to see the terrible conditions in immigrant neighborhoods by taking pictures. To stop children from being seen working in these horrible conditions factory owners train children to hide when it is time for an inspection.
During the year of 1899 the newspaper boys were being taken advantage of by paying more for papers witch raised from the price of 50cents to 60cents witch made the newsie’s work harder in order to make any profit. This act made the newsie’s go on strike, factory owners paid it no mind and simply replaced them and paid the price, the newsie’s destroyed the papers by burning them so the newsie’s that replaced them could not sell them. The newsie’s actions later came out to be an success, the news paper company’s decided to lower their prices back down, newsie’s found out there is power in numbers.
Never the less, in the year of 1912 a machine witch pulled the scout of her hair injured Camilla Ted in a Lawrence factory. Camilla’s family struggled with ought her wages. Also this act caused 23,000 workers to go on strike. Sympathetic people from other states supported the children strikers witch also talked to congress telling the owners made faster machines and lowered wages. However the Milly was passed witch offered workers better wages and shorter workweeks.
On the other hand during the year of 1924 almost 2000,000 children who work and advocate are upset because only states can stop child labor laws, and haven’t done a good gob investigating factory abuses. Photography interviews from the child labor comity show proof that the factories ignore child labor laws. Most Americans feel children should be in school, but factory owners are still finding ways to fight child labor laws. Congress later passed the Fair Labor Standards Act witch set up a minimum wage for workers. Even though the Supreme Court finally agreed to band child labor laws for good.
In conclusion I come to say I am happy that I am not forced to go work in the conditions the children use to. This gives you more of choice and not being forced to work and less responsibility because then you don’t have to worry about your wages to help your family. Not working in factories also gives children the chance to grow up and get the education they need and be able to provide for my family in the future and also make a living for myself.
