In 1912 Camellia Teoli, A 12 years old girl was injured in Lawrence Massachusetts mills, by a machine that pulled her hair and scalp and she had to spend about 7 months in the hospital. Lawrence, working conditions and less workweek.
There were only two inspectors in New York and because of that they didn’t know what was going on in all of the factories, and when they did come the children were trained to hide from them.
During the Lawrence mill strike 23,000 people went on strike, This strike was called the Lawrence Mill Strike of 1912. Followed by the strike was a protest march led by Mother Jones. One of the leaders of the Lawrence mill strike was Camellia Teoli, she took action by speaking to the congressing telling them that the owners made the machines even faster then they where before and lowered wedges.
The movement was important because it showed us what children went though in 1912.It also gives us a different perspective on the past and make us grateful that the government passed laws to stop child labor. Now we can receive our proper education so that we can grow up to become all that we can be.
