Women's Freedom

                                              By Matthew O.

The Women’s right’s was a very important and very interesting movement. The women’s right’s movement occurred in the 19th century and the early 20th century. Some of the people in the movement were Alice Paul, Sojourner Truth, Carrie Nation, Elizabeth Cady
Stanton
and last but not least Susan B. Anthony. One cause of the women’s rights movement was that the women wanted to get the chance to vote but since they didn’t get the right to vote they went on strike. The movement was indeed successful because the women got the rights that they were fighting for.

Social Right’s was one injustice. Social Right’s gave people the ability to use goods, facilities and services without being discriminated. Women did not have those social rights only men had those social rights. Women had to drop out of school when they got married because they had to be devoted to there husband’s. If the wife and husband decided that they wanted to get divorced then the men would get full custody of the children if they had any children. One of my primary sources is when women had to do all the cooking, cleaning and the laundry for the men. I think it’s not right because it looks like the women are getting treated as slaves and have to do everything there asked or else something bad happens if they say no.

Women had to protest just to get the right to vote. All women wanted was to get some freedom and get the right to vote. Susan B. Anthony was a great leader. I think she’s a great leader because she fought for women’s freedom and she never gave up on the women. Susan B. Anthony fought for what she thought was right. One of my favorite laws is the nineteenth Amendment which states that all women have the right to vote. Since women have the right to vote now they got some freedom that they wanted.

This movement made this important to study because you learn more on how women were treated and what they didn’t have that they had to fight for. The men were treated fair back then and the women weren’t. Now the women and men are both treated equally as one.
