Back n the late 19th century, people made children work. They made them work under terrible conditions. Children formed the Children’s Rights Movement, with the help of adults. The kids weren’t aloud to go to school. They didn’t get paid like men did. They also worked at a very young age. These kids were mistreated.
They started the Children’s Rights Movement, because they didn’t want to be mistreated anymore. The children wanted education, and wanted rights. The people involved in it were Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Carry Nation, and Alice Paul.
Children would work in mines and coal factories where they would practically risk their lives to work. In these dangerous conditions some children would actually lost fingers and toes. When they were dismembered they should of gotten immediate care but instead they didn’t, they were replaced like an old toothbrush. Children were being used so much because they were easy to get and easy to replace especially because they were paid below minimum wage.
Factories hired any kids and didn’t care about there age. Some kids were 12 years old and older, and others were only nine year’s old working with dangerous machines. Some children really didn’t want to work and wanted to go to school. Kids had no choice in what they wanted and didn’t want to do. Kids worked in mines and factories, both which were really dangerous. Dangerous machines were very bad for children to work with. They were big and weren’t made for little kids to use.
Later the government was persuaded to pass the fair labor standard act by the vast amount of protests. The fair labor standard act was a way for workers to be paid an appropriate amount of money. Children were later able to only work at 14 and up.
