The movement of child labor was a very big issue in the 1900’s it was so big that it started movements. Child labor was a very injustice thing because the children really didn’t have a choice. Children worked 16 hours a day and didn’t have enough strength to even go to school in the night time so they didn’t go because they just couldn’t do it. Then a remarkable lady came along named Mother Jones and she helped 16,000 kids get their rights. The march with Mother Jones was a very successful.
The injustice against children was very unbelievable. The children were discriminating against, mistreated, and deprived of their rights. Their parents weren’t any help either. Their parents were so In need of money that they even signed for their child to go work in the factories. It was a very hurtful thing because the parents weren’t realizing that their kids safety were on the line. I think that the idea that the children would be working and bringing home money were all the parents were worried about. They were so miss treated that they didn’t have a choice to say I don’t want to work, if their parents wanted them to work they had to work. It really wasn’t fair.
The children got so tired of having to work so many hours and not getting the treatment that they deserve to take a stand. So they called on Mother Jones to help them get the right they needed and wanted. One of the ways they stood up for their rights was they boycotted their jobs and refused to work until their cries for help were heard but that didn’t stop the factories for getting their work done even though they had to pay the adults more they were willing to do just because they didn’t want to get caught having under age kids working for them. A second reason they fought for their justice was by protesting their issue and they did this with the help of a lot of people like Mother Jones, Lewis Hine, and Jacob Riis. These people were people that helped get the children issue out and help the nation realize what was really going on. They took pictures and wrote about what was going the companies were so scared of what the people would see that they didn’t know what to do about the issue. The methods were successful because people began to know the issue and really wanted to help out the kids.
In conclusion as you can see child labor was an issue which was solved by much protest and being patient to see results. After a while child labor was no longer and issue.
