Our Education is On the Line

We, as students in New York City, are very upset that equal education is not guaranteed for all New York City students. We hope that our campaign can change this injustice.

Leading a Movement

If I was a leader in a past civil rights movement,  I would have felt disappointed too.  I would have done anything to stopped the segregation and discrimination. I would have been like "I'm a human being like every white person! So the same rights they have I could have." I would hold a march, strike, anything to get treated equally.

Methods of Resistance in the Past

The most effective method of resistance, to me was the marches. There were strikes everywhere and for mainly the same reasons. If they didn't get what they wanted the wouldn't stop, not even jail stopped them. They did what they need to do to get equal rights.

What Our Campaign Is About

Our campaign is focused on getting the New York State government to stop unfairly providing less funding for New York City schools.

The Past Connecting To The future

The issue about equal education didn't just start now. It started getting attention in the past during the African American Civil Rights Movement. Blacks couldn't go to school with whites, and Asian Americans couldn't go to school with white Americans. Since there was discrimination and low level education, minority students had old books, ripped books, little chalk, and didn't have enough money to buy school products like the white schools. The white schools had everything. From clean books to clean walls. These are some things the blacks during the African American Civil Right

Our Decision and Why We Fight!

My group chose to campaign for equal education rights.  One reason we chose this issue is our education is on the line and I don't appreciate that.  The New York State schools budget takes 50% of the money that schools in the entire state of New York should get.  With that 50%, schools in New York City could buy books and more technological tools.  We don't want to be like the blacks in the past when the whites had better education.
