After reading the civil rights movement history for your group, tell me how you would feel if you were a person, woman, child, african-american, immigrant living at the time where discrimination was everywhere.
the women's suffrage movement
by ashley from 158Xpressions, in , on March, 5th 2007The Declaration of Independence stated that all men are created equal.Well guess what, it only meant white wealthy men. Women did not have the same rights as the men did. Therefore, they began a movement called the women's suffrage, during the 1800's.The participants were Alice Paul,Elizabeth Candy Statin and the women. They began this movement because they were tired of not being treated the way they should be.The movement was successful because they marched from one place to another.
Women had so many injustices .They could not get custody of the children after divorced.Women were not allowed to vote in local ,state or presidential elections.Poor women had to work, but they earned less money than men for the same amount of hours. Most women who were married could not work.

Children worked on their parent's farms before the 1800's. Once factories started developing, children started working there. Why did children work in factories? Why was there Child Labor? While you read further into this you'll find out more about the Children's Civil Rights Movement.
With children working in factories, they were paid less than adults. Children always got hurt. They got their fingers cut off. Children also didn't get enough education. The owners of the factories, followed kids home from school. The parents had to sign work papers for the kids to work. When the children went to school, it was for three months a year.
Blacks and Equal Rights

How would you feel if you went to war for freedom and after the war you were still not treated equally because of your skin color? well after the Civil War in the year of 1865 African Americans were still not being treated equally, only because of the color of their skin color. African Americans decided to fight for there rights which lead to the Civil Rights movement. This movement was sucessful because now African Americans are not judged on the color of their skin. They can now go to the same school as whites and they are able to eat at the same restaurant .
Some injustices the African Americans went through were political and social. one of the political injustices that African Americans went through was voting. African Americans were not allowed to vote. If they tried they would have to take a literacy test which they would have failed because they were not allowed to go to school to learn or they would just have gotten whipped. Another injustice was social. One social injustice that Africans Americans had to go through was that they were not allowed to eat at most restaurants. That caused African Americans to have sit-ins where they stayed in the restaurant knowing that they were not allowed to. Most of them got whipped or a bad punishment took place. Also I saw a picture that showed inequality where their where two men 1 white and 1 black drinking out of different water fountains a d 1 said whites only and the other 1 said colored only
